アジアにおいては、ロシア＝ウクライナ紛争やイスラエル＝ハマス紛争といった、世界的に注目を集める武力紛争に関するものだけでなく、より広い文脈で安全保障化（securitisation）の傾向が見られます。上記の紛争に比べメディアでの報道は少ないものの、インド＝パキスタン紛争やタイ＝カンボジア国境紛争など、アジアでも国家間の武力衝突は実際に発生しています。米国とその同盟国によるアジア太平洋地域での軍事演習は増加する一方で、中国は台湾周辺海域での軍事演習をより集中的に行っています。こうした動きは、地域諸国の安全保障上の懸念を高めています。
2026年度研究大会では、安全保障上の懸念がアジアにおける国際法の発展、解釈、適用に及ぼす影響や、各国政府による安全保障措置の実施を国際法がどのように抑制しているかといった問題について、国際法の多様な分野からの研究報告・意見交換を行います。安全保障化は、国際法のあらゆる分野に浸透しています。伝統的な分野であるjus ad bellumおよびjus in bello、そして新たなjus post bellumが中心的な位置を占めますが、安全保障上の考慮事項は、海洋法、宇宙法、国際人権法、国際環境法、国際経済法にも影響しています。例えば、アジア諸国における政策上の優先事項としての「経済安全保障」の台頭は、貿易、投資、技術ガバナンスに関する法的言説を再構築するものといえます。気候変動への取り組みを含む環境義務もまた、安全保障の枠組みの影響を受けています。
